 Thailand to build 23.6 km permanent border fence and electronic surveillance along Sa Kaeo-Cambodia border to enhance security and monitoring. Major General Vithai Laithomya, spokesperson for the Royal Thai Armed Forces (RTARF), on Saturday provided an update on the Thai-Cambodian border fence project, confirming that the military will accelerate construction along agreed boundary lines to enhance security and improve monitoring efficiency. The RTARF has finalised plans for a permanent fence in Sa Kaeo Province, covering a total length of 23.6 kilometres, divided into two sections: Aranyaprathet checkpoint 09 to boundary marker 49: 6.5 km Boundary markers 50–51: 17.1 km  These areas are free from boundary disputes due to natural demarcations, including the Khlong Luek and Khlong Phrom Hod canals.   Thailand plans a 10km border fence in Sa Kaeo along the Thai-Cambodian frontier, with initial funding from Princess Chulabhorn and a total budget of 87 million baht. Defence Minister Gen Nattaphon Narkphanit revealed on Thursday that Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana graciously donated 1 million baht to establish the Hathai Thip Fund, which will serve as initial capital for constructing walls and barriers along the Thai-Cambodian border. Nattaphon added that the border fence will be built in areas where the boundary has been clearly agreed.  Prof Emeritus Surachart Bamrungsuk, a security and foreign affairs scholar, has written an article offering ten considerations to Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who must now act as the “captain” in guiding the Thai state vessel through the ongoing crisis with Cambodia.  His recommendations for the prime minister’s role include the following: 1. The prime minister should take the lead in formulating new policies and strategies, rather than relying on directional slogans such as the “separate marches, united strike” approach once favoured by the left.
